The University of South Australia was the obvious choice for Therese Sjostrom. "From the beginning I was interested in Marketing and wanted to do my whole degree in an English speaking country". Adelaide was an appealing destination because of its size and "I already knew people living here. I really did want to study here; it's a modern university located in the middle of the city."
"Studying at UniSA is a good mixture of lectures and tutorials and a good mixture of reading and assignments. And even though it's high tempo it's fun and the staff is very helpful. Our lecturers are most often invited in from the business world." Therese is impressed that the guest lecturers are selected because of their familiarity with the topic the students are working on. " The lecturers are all good, they are highly educated and most often they have a long work experience or research background and they are very professional."
A highlight for Therese has been the opportunity to meet and make friends from around the world as well as experiencing a culture and lifestyle literally on the other side of the world from her home. Therese plans to extend her international experience by undertaking a half year placement in another country as part of her international studies degree. "I think this experience will teach me lots of things from the real world and it will be valuable for me when I have graduated."
This experience will be valuable as after graduation Therese hopes to work in marketing within an international organisation. Her ambition is to attain a management level position.
Student support services at UniSA are designed with students in mind. Therese has been in contact with Learning Connection, Campus Central and Students Association "they have all been helpful, friendly and the best thing is that they really want to help you."
Therese studies at the City West campus. "I really like City West campus it's a modern campus in the middle of the city its close to everything. It's perfect as students have 24 hour access to the campus and computer pools. The campus has two cafeterias and a book shop with all the course books available.". The library wins accolades too, "City West has a really good library and the staff is helpful and friendly. I think they understand how hard it is for a first year student to find books in this 4 level library!" The study rooms in the library and the computer pools provide convenient study areas.
But it's not all study. "I live in the suburb Glenelg. It is as close to the beach you can live, it is a beautiful old town you have everything there and it just takes 20-30 minutes with the tram to the city."

I first heard of the University of South Australia while studying in London. The de Lissa Institute of Early Childhood and Family Studies is internationally of good repute. I was impressed by the wide range of courses offered by the de Lissa Institute. Therefore, I decided to study for one semester at the University of South Australia.
It is a fantastic opportunity to study abroad, to be able to combine studying and at the same time get to know a different country as well as culture. To live in another country for a longer time and meet new friends is a memory of a lifetime.
I found the teachers at the de Lissa Institute to be very supportive and helpful. They are always there for you concerning assignments as well as personal matters. As a foreign Student you have a lot to contribute to your fellow students as well as teachers. We always had fruitful disussions when comparing different countries.
The Magill Campus is situated just a few kilometers outside the city of Adelaide surrounded by parks and many sporting facilities. Studying at Magill was a great experience.
During my stay in Adelaide I bought a membership at the University Gym and spent meny weekends exploring Adelaide and Australian landscape with my classmates.
Adelaide proved to be a lively city with lots of leisure opportunities. In Adelaide you also find many nice restaurants and cafes at affordable prices. The cost of living compared to Sweden is very low.
There is nothing so fulfilling as studying abroad. The experience is a real investment. To have the opportunity to study abroad is a chance of a lifetime, - Do not miss it! You will make lifelong friends. Back home again I have both memories and new kind of job offering, both in Sweden and internationally.
